Land Law and Natural Resources Program

Legal Aid of Cambodia’s Land Law and Natural Resources Program works to protect the land and resource rights of vulnerable communities across Cambodia. Through legal representation, legal education, and policy advocacy, LAC helps individuals and communities resolve land disputes, defend their rights to land and natural resources, and navigate Cambodia’s complex land laws.

Cambodia’s rapid development and expanding land concessions have created significant challenges for rural communities whose livelihoods depend on land, forests, and natural resources. LAC provides legal assistance in land-related disputes, supports communities facing displacement or land conflicts, and works with local authorities and justice actors to promote fair and lawful resolution of land cases.

Beyond individual cases, LAC also contributes to broader legal reform and awareness by helping communities understand their rights under Cambodia’s land laws and by strengthening dialogue between communities, government institutions, and civil society actors. Through this work, LAC promotes more transparent, equitable, and accountable governance of land and natural resources, helping ensure that development respects the rights and livelihoods of Cambodia’s people.
