About Legal Aid Cambodia

Founded in 1995, Legal Aid of Cambodia (LAC) is the country’s leading non-governmental legal aid organization. LAC maintains a strong and sustained presence across Cambodia, including in rural areas where the majority of the population lives and access to legal services remains limited.

LAC works towards a just and fair Cambodian society where everyone enjoys equal rights before the law. Its mission is to provide high-quality legal aid and human rights education to poor and vulnerable communities, while strengthening the rule of law and promoting respect for justice and human rights across the country.

Through its work, LAC ensures access to justice, supports legal and judicial reform, and strengthens the capacity of individuals and institutions within Cambodia’s legal system.

Our Approach

LAC plays a key role in strengthening the rule of law in Cambodia through direct casework, legal training, and collaboration with civil society partners. The organization actively engages in advocacy, supports legal education, and contributes to ongoing legal reform efforts.
