Legal Aid of Cambodia’s Women’s Justice Program works to ensure that women and girls affected by gender-based violence can access justice, protection, and legal support. Established in 2008, the program provides free legal advice and representation to survivors of domestic violence, sexual violence, and family disputes, helping them navigate complex legal processes and pursue accountability.
Operating in Siem Reap, Kampong Thom, and Kampong Cham, LAC works alongside local authorities and service providers to strengthen case management, improve referral systems, and ensure that survivors—including women with disabilities—can access inclusive and effective justice services.
Beyond individual cases, the program builds institutional capacity by training police, judicial actors, and local officials on gender-sensitive practices, promoting awareness of legal rights, and improving coordination between social services and the justice system.
Through legal support, advocacy, and capacity-building, LAC is advancing a rights-based approach to justice for women and girls, ensuring they are able to seek protection and legal remedies safely and with dignity.
